How to Get Starlink Installed on Your Outer Banks Home

Getting Starlink up and running on an Outer Banks home is a straightforward process — but coastal conditions make a few steps worth doing right the first time. Here’s exactly how it works when you go from “no internet options” to streaming in 4K, usually within a week.
Step 1: Order Your Kit
Order the satellite kit directly from the provider’s website for your service address. The standard kit includes the dish, WiFi router, cabling, and a basic tripod mount. Delivery to the Outer Banks typically takes one to two weeks. Not sure which plan fits — residential, roam, or business? Call us first and we’ll point you to the right one for how you use the property.
Step 2: Book Your Installation
While the kit ships, request a quote or call (252) 686-1451. We’ll ask a few questions about your property — roof type, tree cover, where you want the router — and give you a flat price upfront: $300 for a standard installation, $500 for our premium whole-home setup. We serve the entire OBX, from the Carova 4×4 beaches to Ocracoke.
Step 3: Site Assessment
On install day we start by finding the spot with the clearest view of the sky. On the Outer Banks that decision is shaped by things a generic installer won’t think about:
- Live oak canopies on soundside lots that cause signal dropouts
- Cedar shake roofs that need careful flashing and sealed penetrations
- Wind exposure — oceanfront mounts need hurricane-rated hardware, not the kit tripod
- Salt air — we use stainless steel fasteners that won’t streak rust down your siding
Step 4: The Installation (2–3 Hours)
A standard install takes two to three hours: mounting the dish, routing and concealing the cable, weatherproofing every penetration, setting up the router, and configuring your WiFi network. Larger homes with mesh systems take four to five. Before we leave, we run a full speed test with you and walk through the app so you can monitor everything yourself.
Step 5: Ongoing Support
You’re not on your own after install day. We provide remote diagnostics and priority on-site support if anything ever needs attention — and because we’re local, “we’ll come take a look” actually means this week, not this month.
Do You Need to Be There?
No. We regularly install for out-of-town owners and property managers. Arrange access in advance and we’ll complete the job, test everything, and send you photos and speed test results when it’s done.
Ready to Schedule Your Installation?
Most installs are completed within a week of your kit arriving. Book your spot now.
